Last friday was awesome, i'm getting lazy. Very lazy.
Had pretty much no motivation while shooting, started messing around, letting other people take pictures just for the sake of it and all that stuff.
Still, the evening itself was pretty rad, even if I wasn't 'feeling' the photo stuff.

Time for change.
Time for revolution.
Time for a new look, new photo's and less laziness!

Just kidding. I've changed the blog ever so slightly, will probably be doing that a lot this month so don't start getting emotionally attached to any particular layout or anything.

As some of you may (or most likely: may not) know, i've been pretty busy with my personal life lately.
Busy moving out, finding a job, earning money etc. Real world stuff. Stuff that give parents headaches all the time. Yes, it's that dreaded word; Finances.
It's the stuff that the world revolves around, business, cash, economy etc. etc.
It's out there, and I need it. To pay my rent of all things.

That's basically the whole story. That, and a lot of playing xbox. Yeah that thing's addicting. My xbox even has it's own blog (which actually updates itself. Pretty cool, actually. And handy if you want to stalk me.)

Other than working hard and playing xbox, I have been doing the occasional assignment here and there.
My last of which was a photoshoot with a good friend of mine: Shermaine.
It was both our first shoot so i'm pretty impressed with the results. She had a lot of great ideas and I loved the easiness of communication between us.

Sena pop awards 2010

o a few days ago I was invited by vine-yard to the Sena pop awards in Amsterdam.
It was pretty cool, they played well, along with other bands, including a funk-rock cover of bomfunk mc's 'freestyler' by a band called 'starcatcher'. Pretty impressive stuff.

I must admit I wasn't feeling too well and only stayed long enough to see (and take photo's of) vine-yard, after that I took the train back home and had a good night's rest.

Been travelling a lot the past few days. Haven't gone very far (from lelystad to almere and back again). I blame my wonderful girlfriend for distracting me so much. Do I mind? Not really.

I got bored, so I decided to whip out an incense stick.
This time I mirrored the image across both vertical and horizontal centres, other than that the image is completely unedited.
The process was actually kind of fun, i'll post some more when I get the opportunity.

Yesterday I decided it was time for a self-portrait. So that's exactly what I did.
Funny how my back garden, a softbox and a piece of cardboard with aluminium foil wrapped around it can turn into a somewhat decent studio, hehe.
Here's the result, yeah, I know. I need a shave..

*Edit*
The background should be completely black. If you can see something white on the right side of this picture then your monitor isn't calibrated correctly. Nothing to worry about, but it means you're going to have to imagine the background being completely black ;)

Brutal sunset

Yeah, I know i've deserted you guys.
Today while walking home I came across this awesome sunset, which was obscured by buildings, trees, bridges etc. It kinda pissed me off so I kept walking untill I found a big, open, grass field where I had a decent view of the scene. By the time I got to the field the sunset kinda died down a little, but nonetheless it was still pretty intense.

This shot is the exact inspiration I needed to get back on track with the photo business. Expect to see some more updates in the near future, i've got a lot to show ;)

Ok guys, first of all:
Sorry for the lack of updates!

My internet has been playing up lately and as a result, i've been offline for the past few days.
Quite a few things have happened this week, such as skating, breaking up, getting run over by a car and passing my fricking exams.

So yeah, now I get to celebrate. Got a party tomorrow and another one the day after!
(Needless to say I probably won't be updating untill sunday at the very least)

BevrijdingsFestival Almere

So I went to the 'BevrijdingsFestival' in Almere on the 5th of may. Vine-Yard had asked me to come over to shoot some pics, and it was a perfect oppurtunity for me to test my new 10-20mm Sigma lens. Approaching the stage, I saw Bart, who asked me to stick around for the majority of the event so he had some stuff to put in the 3Voor12 article. It was a lot of fun, I recieved a press pass which gave me access to unlimited food and drinks, and had a lot of fun talking with people backstage.
After the band Destine came on stage I hardly used the 10-20mm and switched to a 50mm prime lens.
Also, exams are coming up next week so i'll be back to frequent updates after the 29th of May.

It's been a whole week since the StO gig in Amstelveen.
These guys were fucking sick! For those of you that attended the show, you all know what i'm talking about.
For those of you who didn't bother going, you really don't know what you guys missed. Seriously.
And for those of you who are in the band: you guys killed it.

It's a shame I was stuck with a 50mm prime lens, although I doubt it would make any difference, didn't feel like shooting at all. Pit was brutal and the show was too good to watch behind a camera.

This week i've been very busy, moved back in my old home. Things are ok now so there shouldn't be any problems or whatever. Other than that i've been pretty busy with school.

Hey guys.
At the moment things are really going downhill.
I've got to work my ass off otherwise i'm afraid I won't be able to pull it off.
Going to take a short break from the blog so I can sort everything out. Dont worry, i'm not going anywhere.

Been really stressed out lately.
Lot of shit's going wrong at the moment. Had to send my lens (17-50mm F/2.8 Tamron) back to the shop for repairs, which pretty much sucks.

Good news is that i've grown a lot of inspiration for a new photo series.
If things go well I should be able to post it next week (edit: scrap that. I'll do the series after exams.)

No photo today, although I still have 2 hours..

So yesterday I was in Trapnotov @ almere-haven
Wasn't really in the mood for photography (lighting wasn't all too great and the stage was tiny)
Only shot like 5 normal photo's, and something near 900 compressed jpeg photos.
Yeah, that's not a typo. I actually shot 900 photos.

Why?
Because VineYard gave me an assignment to do a stop-motion sequence for their upcoming video.
Never done it before, and it seemed pretty interesting so I thought i'd give it a try. Turned out to be pretty fun (although my finger started to cramp after a while)

I'll throw a link to the vid once it's online ;)
In the meantime, here's a couple of shots from yesterday night:
(I've also decided to add watermarks to photo's. I'm ok with people using them but it's always nice to have some kind of recognition if you get what I mean)
Also, the watermark doesn't seem to work on the first shot. Meh. Too lazy to figure out what went wrong

Today wasn't too exciting. Spent some time sorting out the photo archive, cleaning everything up etc.
Here's a picture that was taken a while back. The band 'Vine-Yard' paid me to shoot their gig, one of my first assignments now that I think about it.

Looking forward to friday, gonna see another one of their shows. Sounds awesome ;)

I'm not just talking about sunday. I've been lazy all week!
So yesterday was pretty cool. A lot of rain, but that's ok. I've actually grown a liking towards the rain, at least it's not as cold or slippery as snow (although... not as fun)

Hey boys and girls,

For all you guys living near lelystad or almere, read carefully.
Stating the Obviouz are about to do their most important gig ever.
The gig will take place in Amstelveen which is pretty far from here, StO has arranged a tour bus which is cheaper than going by train.

Here's some info:

Date: 9 April
Place: P60 @ Amstelveen
Price: 17 euro p.p (Tour bus included)

Trust me when I say that these guys are worth supporting.
I've also heard that they will be playing with The Boys & Crash, who are also definately worth the effort.
Once a flyer has been made i'll be sure to post it here. So keep an eye out for April the 9th.

If you're planning on going, please comment on this post. That way I can contact StO with details about how many people are going etc.

It was harder than I thought, having no-one around to help with the focus I had to put a chair on my bed, using manual focus untill the chair was sharp. A lot of trouble for a seemingly simple shot.

As you may or may not already have known, the 14th of February 2010 was my 19th birthday.
Wasn't looking forward to it at all to be honest. I mean, I only just moved in, still feels awkward I guess.

The feeling changed quickly enough though. The morning started out quite well with a tasty breakfast, freshly baked baguettes with eggs, cheese, ham etc!
As the day progressed my mood lifted and was quite surprised when my friends' mum invited a few people over as a surprise party! This literally made my day!

Ok guys, so i've decided to make a blog.
It's a lot easier to handle than hyves, twitter, myspace etc etc. This way I can post photo's without everything being too cluttered.

There's been a lot going on lately. Being kicked out the house, failing school, moving to a friend's house... bloody hell!
All I can see is that it's been a tough year so far!!

Good news is that i've finally managed to settle down a bit, which means I can spend some more time on photography (and homework...)
